- Installation of WID Base
- Applying fixpack
o Copy or map the fix pack binaries
o Start “Rational Product Updater”.
o Select Preferences, Update Sites and browse to the media containing the fixpack files click ‘OK’.
o Select ‘Find Updates’, the media will then be searched for applicable updates.
o Select install updates. Select “accept. . .” and click ‘OK’.
- Applying interim fix
o Follow the above steps if you have downloaded the ifix or follow the steps below to update the WID from IBM site
o Start “Rational Product Updater”.
o From the File Menu, Select ‘Preferences’ and ‘Update Sites’, then click ‘Restore Default’.
o From the File Menu, Select ‘Preferences’ and change ‘Proxy Settings’ if you have a proxy server (ex: host: <proxy-server> and port: 8080)
o Select ‘Find Updates’, the media will then be searched for applicable updates.
o Select the updates you’d like installed from the resulting list.
o Select install updates. On the following screen, select “accept. . .” and click ‘OK’.
- Applying fixpack to WPS in WID
o Locate the WPS fixpack binaries from WPS support site or from your administrator
o Copy the updateinstaller folder from fixpack binaries into WPS runtime installation directory (ex: D:\IBM\WID\runtimes\bi_v6)
o Start the update installer – update.exe from the extracted folder
o Apply fixes in the following order by re-launching the wizard after each update

- Installing WID 602 along with the Monitor Toolkit v602
o Extract or make sure that all the binaries related to WID and MTK along with DB2 are copied or made available (MTK and DB2 files have to be properly aligned)
o Click the launchpad.exe from disk1 folder under WID602 to install WID
o Make sure that the installation directory is small (ex: d:\ibm\wid)
o Select integrated test environment along with the IDE
o If required, select the ESB profile in addition to WPS profile
o Make sure that all the 4 steps of WID install are completed successfully
o Create db2admin as part of Administrators and db2admins groups
o Create another user for WPS (ex: admin or wps) as part of Administrators group
o Above users can be created by the launchpad during installation
o Click setup.exe from montoolkit folder to start installing the MTK
o Select IDE and ITE – integrated test environment (monitor)
o WID, Monitor and MME installation directories can not be changed
o Change the DB2 home (ex: d:\ibm\sqllib)
o Enter DB2 and WPS user names and passwords (created earlier)
o Review the summary of components to be installed
o DB2 is installed first and WPS profile named wbmonitor is created next
o Monitor install wizard is displayed with summary to be installed
o Vpdexport tool is installed at C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Universal\Common\Gen2\_vpddb
o Monitor database and other monitor components are created
o Launchpad checks the installation status
o Make sure that both the installation steps (IDE and ITE) are successful
o Start/restart the WID and verify that the monitor server is added to servers
